Forest Research Institute (FRI), previously known as Imperial Forest Research Institute came into existence in 1906.
Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun is a
premier institution under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and
Education (ICFRE). The FRI works as per the guidelines framed by the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE).
The institute has been declared as Deemed to be University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on the basis of recommendations made the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Objectives
- Provide for research and advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of forestry and environment.
- Impart education in different branches of forestry and environment.
- Carry out such other activities as may be necessary and desirable to
further the safeguarding of environment and protection of forests and
wildlife.
- Create consciousness about forest and environment among people through forestry extension programmes.
Placement
FRI University has an active centralized Placement Office functioning throughout the year, with activities maximum between April and August. Various Industries / organizations visit the campus for interviews. On an average 50% of the students get placements through the campus interviews. While the other half try their entrepreneurial skills.
