Forest Research Institute Courses

Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun carries out multi disciplinary forestry education. It is the first and only University of the country administrating research dedicated exclusively to Forestry, the University aims at spreading the fruits of research and higher education in the forestry sector to the young students through post graduation and diplomas in forestry and allied sciences.

  • M.Sc. Forestry
    Seats: 38
    Duration: 2Years
    Eligibility: B.Sc. with at least one of the subjects Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology or B.Sc. Agriculture or Forestry.

  • M.Sc. Environment Management
    Seats: 38
    Duration: 2 Years
    Eligibility: B.Sc. with at least one of the subjects - Botany, Zoology, Environment or B.Sc. Forestry or Agriculture or BE Environment Science.

  • M.Sc. Wood Science & Technology
    Seats: 38
    Duration: 2 Years
    Eligibility: B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or B.Sc. Forestry.

  • M.Sc. Cellulose & Paper Technology
    Seats: 20
    Duration: 2 Years
    Eligibility: B.Sc. with Chemistry

  • Post Master's Diploma in Natural Resoure Management
    Seats: 22
    Duration: 1 Year
    Eligibility: M.Sc. in any discipline preferably any of the Life Sciences subjects at graduation level.

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Aroma Technology
    Seats: 20
    Duration: 1Year
    Eligibility: B.Sc. with Chemistry

  • Post Masters Diploma In Natural Resource Management
    The course is covered in two semesters spread over a year and contains all aspects of natural resource utilization and conservation.

  • Post Masters Diploma In Non Wood Forest Products

  • Post Graduate Diploma In Pulp & Paper Technology

  • Doctoral Program
    A student can pursue research at FRI University or any of recognized research centers  of FRI or ICFRE spread all over the country, leading to an award of Ph.D. degree.
    I) Hold a master's degree or its equivalent from any recognized university or Institute.
    II) Have 55% marks or above in Post graduate examination.
    III) Have the supervisor/guide from FRI or its research centers and Co-guide may be from outside.
